An M-class flare fired off Sunday from sunspot region 1226. There is a good chance we will see more large flares from this region over the next five days.

Prior to Sunday's event, a coronal hole jettisoned a moderate amount of charged particles (solar wind) which hit the Earth last night producing today's geomagnetic storm. Aurora's occurred at both the North and South Pole.
Sunday's M-class flare has yet to hit Earth's magnetic field. This will occur within the next 48 hours producing a second geo-storm.
Equation:
Sunspots => Solar Flares (charged particles) => Magnetic Field Shift => Shifting Ocean and Jet Stream Currents => Extreme Weather and Human Disruption (mitch battros 1998)
Watch for an escalation of extreme weather most likely to take the form of cyclones/typhoons, tornadoes, micro-bursts, straight-line winds, and wind-shears.
A recent release by NOAA Space Weather Center reminded us Cycle 24 is ramping up. We will most likely continue to witness a gradual escalation (sometimes sudden) of geo-magnetic storms. Solar Article – Click Here
