Death toll researches 45 in six states. Tornadoes, high winds and flooding rains ripped across the South for three days in the deadliest storm outbreak to hit the USA in more than three years.
The Storm Prediction Center noted 243 initial reports of tornadoes in 13 states – an "astounding" number, Weather Channel meteorologist Jonathan Erdman said.

On April 15th an M-class flare fired off from sunspot region 1190. Solar activity had increased to moderate levels. A filament was observed lifting at 14/2324Z on GOES SXI.
A CME was observed on SOHO/LASCO C2 imagery at 15/0036Z, with a speed of approximately 390 km/s. A coronal hole in the southern hemisphere also released a cloud of charged particles Earth directed.
Within 48 hours of solar events, severe storms and tornadoes in the southern United States have killed at least 39 people, downing power lines and wrecking hundreds of buildings along its path, officials said on Sunday.

North Carolina accounted for the bulk of casualties and property losses, with 22 people killed and more than 80 others injured. Significant damage was reported in at least 15 counties and power was out to more than 200,000 people.
